Ethylene glycol antimony market quiet

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 5 Jan 13 – As market insiders just come back from the New Year holiday and there are a few offers and inquiries in the spot market, there ethylene glycol antimony market is quiet.

A Hunan-based producer with an output of about 200tpm told Asian Metal that he offers about RMB54,000/t (USD8,668/t) ex works for wet ethylene glycol antimony 55% at this moment, the same as that before the New Year holiday. "I got several calls for the offer, but I know very few of them will make purchase at this moment," said the source, adding a stock of about 200t now.

The source also learned the closing price of ethylene glycol antimony reached RMB53,000/t (USD8,507/t) ex works before the holiday for wet ethylene glycol antimony 55%. "I will stop production before the Spring Festival holiday if the market keeps so quiet," said the source.

Another Henan-based producer with an output of about 100tpm told Asian Metal that he offers about RMB54,000-55,000/t (USD8,668-8,828/t) ex works for dry ethylene glycol antimony now, unchanged compared with that before the holiday. "Demand from downstream industry decreases, and the price of ethylene glycol antimony does not have support, but producers got losses in the past year, so they all want to raise the offer," said the source, revealing a stock of about 280t at hand at this moment.

The source claimed that some suppliers accepted RMB53,000/t (USD8,507/t) ex works to sell wet ethylene glycol antimony 55% before the holiday to get capital turnover. "However, after the holiday, the situation will be better," said the source.
